Sophia Henley’s life is in danger in her own home. The only way she can survive is to run...from her husband. But is he really the man she married?

After being dumped and left for dead in the Black Sea, Jake Henley is out to settle the score with his commanding officer and to save Sophia. She’s in jeopardy because of his job. He’ll stop at nothing to save her.

Sophia knows her secret life is to blame, but telling Jake about her job would only endanger him more. Can they escape the enemy by working together, or will the lies their marriage was founded on get in their way?

Lies of omission! Being less than open with each other, Jake and Sophia place their marriage on a slippery slope from day one, but the sex is breathtakingly good. Both justify failure to reveal important facts about themselves but these omissions lead to their both being placed in danger of being killed.

Smooth Lies keeps the reader’s adrenaline pumping from the onset. Jake’s secret black ops job takes him to the brink of death at the time when he knows Sophia is at risk because of him. Stretched to the limit of his endurance, he strives to rescue her, even though his identity has been stolen and he’s been reported dead.

Meantime, Sophia, having been tortured and badly hurt, finds herself drugged and a captive. Her amnesia state leaves her unsure of what is truth and what is a lie until she overhears a conversation of her capturers. She knows she has to escape if she wants to live. Hers is a hair-raising experience.

As Sara Thacker weaves this exciting story of a race for life, the reader encounters a convenient coincidence or two but these are not enough to keep one from wanting to stay close to Jake and Sophia as they run for their lives in the mountains of Virginia.

The need to stay alive and to find a way to build a lasting marriage drains Jake and Sophia, both physically and emotionally, and propels the story along. When we think all is lost, a saved-by-the-skin-of-their-teeth happens and we finally have the happy-ever-after that we love. Smooth Lies is a page-turner.
